Sport Bild claims that Matthijs de Ligt’s relationship with Thomas Tuchel is strained, adding to speculation over the Dutchman’s future at Bayern Munich.

When Matthijs de Ligt joined Bayern Munich from Juventus for €67 million in 2022, he was supposed to be the club’s new defensive boss.

However, while things haven’t exactly gone badly for de Ligt in Munich, they haven’t gone to plan either, and his relationship with coach Thomas Tuchel has become strained, according to Sport Bild.

Under Tuchel, de Ligt has made just twelve appearances in all competitions this season, with Dayot Upamecano and Min-Jae Kim the Bayern coach’s preferred centre-back pairing this term.

There is even speculation that de Ligt’s time at Bayern could come to an end this summer, with Manchester United reportedly keen on the Dutchman.

Ongoing injury problems have certainly hampered the defender’s chances of securing a regular starting place this season, and as Bayern confirmed yesterday, he now faces another spell on the sidelines due to a kneecap injury.
