Referenced by Kicker, Spanish media reports that Sheraldo Becker is close to leaving Union Berlin this winter despite his contract expiring in the summer.
Becker is close to joining Real Sociedad in January, ending his four-year spell in the capital. The 28-year-old was likely to leave Union upon the expiry of his contract in the summer, but a move now means Union will receive a small fee for Becker. Villarreal were also said to be interested in the striker but Sociedad have seemingly outbid them.
This season, Becker has felt the effects of playing in a struggling Union side currently sitting 15th in the Bundesliga. Becker has yet to score a goal for Union in the Bundesliga this season compared to last season where he had scored seven goals by this stage. Injuries have not helped the 28-year-old this season either.
If Becker does leave in the winter then Union still have several striking options with Kevin Behrens, Kevin Holland, Mikel Kaufmann and Benedict Hollerbach all available for selection. Union have already lost a striker after David Fofana was recalled from his loan from Chelsea.
