Hours after having sacked Jose Mourinho, Roma seem to be making clear progress in signing his replacement.
Mourinho’s sacking was made official earlier today, as Roma were left 9th in the table in the Serie A after the defeat to Milan at the weekend. They are also out of the Coppa Italia.
Sky Italia report that Roma are making progress in a move for Daniele de Rossi, who is the club owners’ chosen man to replace Mourinho at least on an initial interim basis. Contacts are already underway and the move is nearing a potential conclusion.
The likelihood is that De Rossi will join on an interim basis and while he will have a deal till the end of the season, the club will have an option to extend the stay depending on certain conditions and objectives.
De Rossi last managed SPAL in the 2022/23 season, where he lasted only a few months and he left the club when they were at 18th in the Serie B.
