Bild reports that amid interest in PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, Eintracht Frankfurt are unwilling to break their existing wage structure to accommodate a new striker.
Despite the arrival of Saša Kalajdžić on loan, Frankfurt are still interested in signing another striker this window Rennes are currently blocking Frankfurt’s attempts to sign Arnaud Kalimeundo despite the striker’s interest in moving to the Bundesliga. While negotiations for PSG’s Ekitike are complicated due to the 21-year-old’s salary.
Ekitike currently earns around €7m a year and Frankfurt are only willing to offer €2.5-3m. Mario Gotze and Kevin Trapp currently earn 3.5m, whilst Robin Koch and Ellyes Skhiri earn €3m. Sporting director Markus Krösche is unwilling to upset the wage structure to sign Ekitike.
A move for the 21-year-old did not materialise in the summer as he was unwilling to forgo parts of his salary, however, this may be different this time around due to his lack of game time at PSG since the arrivals of Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani last summer.
