Nice boss Francesco Farioli on links with Italy return: “Rumours are certainly pleasing”

Nice boss Francesco Farioli has spoken about his future, amidst links with a move back to Italy.

Farioli has impressed in his time at Nice, with the club second in the Ligue 1 table and sparkling with their style of play. He has been linked with a return to Italy, where he has never managed but has been an assistant to Sassuolo.

He was asked recently about a return to Italy and he spoke about the rumours, stating that he is only thinking about Nice and the next few games at the club.

He told TMW: “What I always say is that the future is the future. I am overjoyed to be in Nice, with what we are doing and the many things we will have to do. The rumors are certainly pleasing. What good we have done we have done with sacrifice and a lot of work without ever lifting our heads. We remain focused on the future and the future is Bordeaux.”

He was also asked about the Italian national team and Luciano Spalletti, who is currently the Azzurri boss. Farioli stated that Spalletti is the right man for the job.

“I really think so. Given the career he has had, what he did last year leaves us speechless but regardless of this, the coach has great charisma and I think he is the right person to take us to the European Championship and for the next World Cup. It is an honor for us Italians to be represented by a person of this level.”

Before joining Nice, Farioli had managed Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk where he had imposed his ideas about the game very well and that helped him move to France. As of now, he is one of the brightest Italian coaches out there.
