Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has admitted that the chance of Jadon Sancho staying at the club beyond the summer is “not that great”.
Sancho left Dortmund to join Manchester United for a whopping €85 million in 2021, and has just returned on loan until the end of the season.
Asked by Sky Germany on Sunday night about the possibility of keeping Sancho, Kehl admitted that the odds aren’t too good.
“Realistically, the chance is not that great. Manchester paid €85 million for him two years ago. A purchase option was not financially feasible for us,” Kehl said.
“We will see what happens in the summer. If the player develops as we hope, there will be other interested parties.”
Sancho came off the bench to set up a goal in Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Darmstadt on Saturday, his first game since September, when he was suspended from the Manchester United first team for disciplinary reasons.
Kehl, however, is not worried about the 23-year-old’s attitude problems.
“I feel he’s changed, he’s become more mature in his personality,” Kehl said, adding:
“He knows that his role at Borussia Dortmund is demanding. So far he has always been punctual. I think we’ll have fewer problems than before.”
