Brentford retain interest in Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi

Brentford could reignite their interest in Olympique de Marseille midfielder Azzedine Ounahi (23) later this month, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The Moroccan international, who only moved from SCO Angers to Marseille one year ago, could be allowed to leave OM this month in the event of a reasonable offer being lodged. The Ligue 1 club’s wage bill is being monitored by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog – and as a result, players such as Ounahi, but also Vitinha, and even Ismaïla Sarr, could be allowed to leave the club in January.

Brentford held talks to sign Ounahi in August

Ounahi, despite failing to truly establish himself at Marseille since his move last January, still holds good value on the current market and is notably attracting strong interest from Saudi Arabia.

However, Brentford, who according to The Athletic, held talks over a move for Ounahi back in August, also retain an interest in the midfielder and could make a move. Ounahi is currently away on international duty with Morocco ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
