Union Berlin defender Leonardo Bonucci will join Turkish side Fenerbahçe. It’s a done deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The legendary Italian defender will join as a free agent with the Bundesliga side prematurely terminating his contract.
The 34-year-old will join on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Bonucci will travel to Istanbul tomorrow in order to complete the move.
Bonucci had only joined Union Berlin last summer, but he is currently enduring a difficult time in Germany with his side currently sitting 15th in the league table. He has also only played seven league matches this season.
Bonucci has also been looking for more regular game time as he is set on playing with the Italian national team at Euro 2024.
Fenerbahçe currently sit top of the table on goal difference with rivals Galatasaray in second. Bonucci’s new side play tomorrow, so it’s likely the defender may be presented in front of a home crowd.
