Ajax are reportedly interested in signing former Liverpool star Jordan Henderson who is currently on the books of Al-Ettifaq.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch giants are among several clubs who are keen on the experienced midfielder.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Saudi club allows the 33-year-old to leave this month as he is still contracted to the Dammam-based outfit until 2026.
Henderson joined the Saudi Pro League side from Liverpool in the summer for £12 million, but the move seemingly hasn’t worked for him.
It is said the England international has struggled to adjust to life in the Middle East and is desperate for Premier League return even though the move would cost him millions of pounds in tax and lost wages.
The heat and humidity of the playing conditions as well as the club’s average attendance has also proved to be less inspiring for the midfielder.
Manager Steven Gerrard and Ian Foster were instrumental in convincing him to move to Al Ettifaq. But Foster has resigned from his position, while Gerrard has been facing immense scrutiny after a disappointing run of form.

It is not certain whether any of the top-flight clubs would be interested in hiring Henderson’s services in January. But if he fails to land a move to the Premier League, he has the option of joining Ajax who compete in the Eredivisie.
