Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has provided an update on the pursuit of free agent Paulo Dybala.
Inter have been chasing the Argentine forward for a while, but they have put the negotiations on hold, especially after turning their attention to Romelu Lukaku, who has completed his return to San Siro from Chelsea on loan.
Although reports state that the talks will resume sooner, Marotta has now hinted that Inter could look away from the former Juventus star.
The Nerazzurri chief said (h/t Football Italia): “Dybala is part of the many players available for free. I had never seen so many and it proves that football is changing and that more courage is needed at a youth level.
“Dybala represented and still represents an opportunity, but we are ok in attack with valuable players who the coach will need to manage in the best way even if I have a solid bond with Dybala.”
It appears like the race has become open now for the 28-year-old, who seems to be no longer the priority for the Nerazzurri.
Furthermore, Inter have a stacked attack with the likes of Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa and Edin Dzeko, which raise questions on Dybala’s role if he moves to San Siro.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi was also quizzed about the speculations regarding the Argentine attacker ahead of pre-season, but he refused to comment on it.
Fellow Serie A rivals AC Milan and Napoli are keeping tabs on Dybala’s situation, but they could struggle to meet his salary demands of around €7 million per season.
