Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United appears to be imminent. Having featured on just three occasions for the Red Devils in the Premier League this season, Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the Englishman will play no future role at Old Trafford for as long as he is in charge.
Therefore, BvB have offered the 23-year-old a route out of United. However, while an agreement between the two sides is close, the green light has not yet been given, with Manchester United refusing to include a future option to buy within the deal.
Regardless, this has not stopped Dortmund players from anticipating Sancho’s arrival. After speaking to Sky Germany, club captain Emre Can stated his excitement to see Sancho back at the Westfalenstadion:
“Personally, I would be extremely happy because I think a lot of him, and I believe that if he comes, he will help us… It would definitely be nice if he came. He is a difference-maker. He’s always good for a goal, he’s always good for an assist, and he’ll definitely help us if he comes along. He is extremely talented and is simply a difference-maker.”
While he has been unable to prove his ability in the Premier League, Sancho was electric in the Bundesliga. In 137 appearances for BvB, the Englishman scored 50 goals and collected 64 assists. It is a level of performance that the Dortmund faithful will expect upon his return.
