Real Madrid have been joined in their long-standing pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé by another of European football’s heavyweight clubs.
That’s according to French outlet Le Parisien, who have provided an update on the future of the France international.
This comes with the 25-year-old now free to open negotiations with any club whom he so chooses, ahead of the expiration of his PSG contract in the summer.
Real Madrid had long been viewed as the runaway favourites for his services, two years on from seeing Mbappé turn them down in favour of extending his terms in Paris.
But, according to Le Parisien, the hard-ball negotiation tactics of Florentino Pérez and Co. could yet see them miss out once more.
This comes amid suggestions that Liverpool have emerged as ‘serious’ contenders to land the prolific frontman.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be a long-term admirer of Mbappé’s talents, having first identified him as a star in the making a full nine years ago, during the Frenchman’s time with AS Monaco.
With Mbappé himself reportedly intrigued by the prospect of a move to Anfield, the two parties joining forces is therefore viewed as a legitimate possibility ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
