Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique spoke to the press ahead of Les Parisiens’ Trophée des Champions (French Supercup) clash against Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. With the January transfer window getting underway, the Spaniard admitted he would like to spread signings all over the pitch. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport.
“Speaking as a coach, If I could have several players in each position [this transfer window] , I’d be delighted,” began the former Barcelona manager. “We’ll keep a close eye on transfer window, but not just in midfield. In all positions, it’s a complicated market but if there are opportunities – let’s go for it.”
‘Lucas Beraldo ticks all the boxes’ – Enrique happy with first winter signing
The French champions have already completed the signing of young Brazilian centre-back Lucas Beraldo (20) for around €20m to provide defensive cover. “He’s the first player of this winow and he’s been able to train already. We’ve seen a bit of what we already knew.”
“We always try to get as much information as possible about a player. One very important component is that we want players to have the mentality of a wrestler, a professional, who takes care of his daily life, and Lucas Barelado ticks all the boxes. He’s a very interesting player for the future.”
The Sao Paulo defender was going to arrive the same time as Corinthians teen Gabriel Moscardo (18) – but his move has been deferred owing to a foot injury which was flagged in his medical. Enrique revealed little on the stage of the transfer of the youngster, adding “I’m not in a position to give you information about players who aren’t yet at PSG.”
