Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach are monitoring the transfer market for a goalkeeper should Yann Sommer leave this summer, according to Sky Germany.
The 33-year-old has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice and Gladbach would allow Sommer to leave should they receive a suitable offer.
Sommer is entering the final year of his contract and per the report, would also like to join Nice, who are coached by former Borussia Möncehngladbach head coach Lucien Favre. Sommer played 55 games under his compatriot during Favre’s time at the club.
However, Gladbach head coach Daniel Farke remains optimistic that Sommer will remain at the club. The Switzerland international will return for pre-season training this week whilst Farke noted last week that “you don’t have to believe everything” you see in a rumour mill.
Sommer has played 322 games in all competitions for Gladbach since his €9m move from Basel in 2014.
