Amateur side, US Villejuif, suspends club activities after a coach was threatened with a knife

The amateur side, US Villejuif, has suspended all club activities following threats to one of their coaches from the parent of a player.

The President of Villejuif, Youssef Mountabih, announced in a press release today that all games except one have been suspended until further notice as the club have ‘taken the firm and urgent decisionto cancel all training sessions as well as all matches in all categories of the club.’

This decision was made following a parent of a player threatening one of the coaches with a knife in an extraordinary act of aggression.

The club which plays its games in the sixth tier of French football will look to resume activities from the 8th of January wherein a closed training session will be held. In this session, all ‘access will be prohibited to any person outside the club management until further notice.’

However, as L’Equipe reports this is not an isolated incident in France. The actions that have shocked Villejuif follow a wave of similar issues. FC Montrouge last Friday was forced to suspend club training this week after a parent attacked a coach. While, on the 3rd of December, ESA Linas-Montlhéry cancelled the training of its entire academy after a coach was attacked by a parent during an under-9s training session.
