Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart are working on the signing of Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf.
VfB Stuttgart are believed to be working on a deal to sign Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Talks are already reported to be underway with the Japanese international’s representatives.
Tanaka has a €5 million release clause in his contract, but with the 25-year-old central midfielder having a year and a half left on his deal with Fortuna, the second Bundesliga side could let him go for €3-4 million, the report claims.
Tanaka will represent Japan at the Asian Cup in the winter, but that does not necessarily rule out a transfer in January.
He has scored four goals and provided one assist in 19 appearances for Fortuna this season.
