Just a year and a half after signing for Barcelona from Leeds United in a deal worth up to £55 million, the Catalan side are already considering selling winger Raphinha. That is according to AS, who believe that the club would be open to the player’s exit should a reasonable offer come in.
While the South American has shown flashes of brilliance, his numbers need to improve if he wishes to convince Xavi that he is the right man. Raphinha has accumulated a total of 20 goals and assists in 49 games in a team that is struggling to put the ball into the back of the net. While his numbers aren’t bad, they are below the expectations of the club and Barcelona would consider selling the former Leeds man as a means to free up extra funds.
Premier League interest
There have been a handful of clubs who have shown an interest in the former Premier League player, including Arsenal and Manchester United. There have even been talks of using the winger as a makeweight in a deal to sign Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães, and, of course, Saudi Arabia is always an option.
The 27-year-old is contracted at the club until 2027, and it is thought that the Brazilian would like to remain at the club where he wants to win trophies.
