Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund’s players are becoming increasingly doubtful of Edin Terzic and the job he is doing at the club.
High-ranking players at Dortmund have criticised Terzic’s defensive play style after Dortmund’s 2-0 loss to VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal, Terzic initially did not understand his criticism but has changed the way Dortmund played, with little improvement. The doubts about Terzic as manager continue to grow as he and his assistants are viewed as tactically deficient.
Players have also expressed their views to Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke believing that further cooperation with Terzic would not be effective for the team. It has previously been reported that Watzke is loyal to Terzic and is unlikely to sack him in the middle of the season.
Regardless of the result against Mainz on Tuesday, Terzic will remain as Dormtund’s coach. However, if Dortmund do decide to sack Terzic at some point, former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner would be an option.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl is also under criticism for the squad planning, but it is also worth noting that Terzic has held great influence on who Dortmund signed in the summer and this has created tension between the two.
