Milan debutant Jan-Carlo Simic: “I was working hard every day and I took advantage of the opportunity”

Following the Rossonerri’s convincing 3-0 victory against Monza at the Stadio San Siro, Milan debutant Jan-Carlo Simic provided his insight after notching his first goal professional goal.

The 18-year-old academy graduate stepped onto the pitch in the 23rd minute of play after Tomasso Pobegba was forced to remove himself from the fixture due to injury.

The promising starlet capitalized on his opportunity as he scored from point-blank range in courtesy of a sublime low-driven cross from Portuguese star Rafael Leao, allowing the Rossonerri to seal all three points and bounce back following their exit from the Champions League during the mid-week. Simic is the third youngest Milan player to score for the club in the three-point era.

While speaking to DAZN, via TMW, Simic expressed the emotions after such a fairy-tale debut in his home stomping-ground:

How did your parents support you?

“I’m happy for them too, they’ve been helping me since I came here. We’re all together near Milanello, I’m grateful to them and I’m happy with their reaction to the goal.”

What has Pioli told you these days?

“He told me to stay ready, I was working hard every day and I took advantage of the opportunity.”

Have you found any differences in the way young people are treated in Italy and Germany?

“Here it feels more like a family, we work a lot more on a tactical level. We are a great family, I’m happy to play here.”

You arrived at Milan and first photo was with Maldini.

“Maldini is also my idol, it’s an honour to play here and I do everything to repay everything.”

When they told you that Milan were interested in you, what did you think?

“I was in the gym, my father called me and told me that Milan wanted me but I didn’t believe it. I went home, we talked for five hours about the future and the possibilities and I left.”
