Toppmöller had good news to report with respect to injured midfield linchpin Ellyes Skhiri. The Tunisian international may be back in time to face the league leaders on Sunday.
Toppmöller noted that he was considering using Jessic Ngankam as a direct replacement for Marmoush up front, but also left open the possibility that either Fares Chaibi or Mario Götze could be deployed as false-nines. Toppmöller suggested that he would test out a potential system for the massive league encounter tomorrow.
“It’s a balancing act that we have to manage,” Toppmöller noted, “We want to get one or two players into the game, but we also don’t want to lose our rhythm completely. The framework of our team should be on the pitch.”
The SGE gaffer also furnished an update on injured midfield linchpin Ellyes Skhiri. After suffering a muscle injury in his thigh two weeks ago, Toppmöller noted that the Tunisian was making “good progress” in training and that the 28-year-old might make a comeback, albeit off the bench, on Sunday.
