An update on the future of Barcelona player Sergi Roberto has been provided today amid reports linking the player with a move to MLS and Brazilian side Palmeiras.
The 31-year-old has been on the fringes of the Barca squad this season and has made just two appearances in all competitions, however, the versatile player has had a variety of injury issues that have contributed to his limited minutes this season.
As he is free to negotiate with other clubs in January and with a lack of progress over a renewal at the Catalan club, reports have emerged over a potential transfer to MLS and Palmeiras.
Inter Miami have been monitoring the situation of Sergi Roberto and would like to offer him a deal if he were to leave the Spanish giants on a free next summer.
As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Roberto has dismissed the prospect of leaving Barca and has confirmed that his entourage is currently in dialogue with the club over his future.
He said: “I’m only talking to Barça. At the moment, I’m not going to go to another team.
“Rumours on Inter Miami or Palmeiras is all lies. I’d like to try MLS experience in the future, but it is not yet the time for it.”
Sergi Roberto’s current deal expires in June 2024, although negotiations over a renewal remain ongoing.
