Bayern Munich closed out their Champions League group stage with a win, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
In a game with few chances for either side, Kingsley Coman scored the winner in the 71st minute. One-on-one with Andre Onana, the French winger unleashed a shot into the back of the net after receiving a clever through ball from Harry Kane.
Kane himself came close to getting on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute, but the England captain’s header went just wide of the upright.
The win, Bayern’s fifth in six Champions League games this season, extended their record unbeaten run in the group stage to 40 games.
Thomas Tuchel’s side go through to the knockout stages in comfortable first place, eight points clear of FC Copenhagen, who finished second in Group A.
Manchester United, on the other hand, ended in fourth place and have therefore played their last European game this season.
