Assuming that an interested party can be found, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner should suit up for another team in the second half of the current season. Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid reports that the former German national team striker was summoned to the office of RB sporting head Rouven Schröder recently. The result of the meeting was that both parties agreed that they would work on a solution for the 27-year-old’s sporting future.

Werner’s current sporting predicament has already led to some transfer rumors surfacing. Whether or not the player himself is prepared to compromise and potentially return to a smaller German club remains to be seen. Virtually all German top tier clubs – thanks to the current Africa and Asian continental championships – will be looking for additional attacking assistance during the coming January window.

Werner nevertheless will be seeking a station that offers him regular playing time and a chance of returning to the German national team ahead of this summer’s Euros. Werner will also almost certainly have to agree to a large pay cut if he transfers to another club. A loan deal might enable him to retain his RB salary or allow his German club to pay a certain percentage of it.
