Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic slammed VAR after his side’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

The BVB coach felt his side were robbed of a penalty when Karim Adeyemi went down in the 73rd minute under a challenge from Edmond Tapsoba.

Much to Terzic’s frustration, referee Daniel Siebert allowed play to continue and the video assistant referee did not intervene.

Dortmund led 1-0 at the time, but conceded the equaliser six minutes later through Victor Boniface.

“I’m especially pissed off by the penalty situation with Karim,” Terzic said after the game, according to DPA.

“It really upsets me, because it’s not fair.

“It happens to us a lot – and especially to Karim.

“[Tapsoba] clearly connects with Karim’s shin… I don’t agree and it’s difficult to understand.”

“We were clearly disadvantaged.”

He went on to compare the decision to one from the 2022/23 season, in which a controversial penalty decision went against Dortmund in a 1-1 draw with Bochum.

“I look back to the Bochum game where it was also Karim Adeyemi, so when something comes up again like that, we’re very unsatisfied… we’re frustrated today.”

Nevertheless, Terzic described the draw as a “fair result”.
