Having won all but one game this season – a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich – Bayer Leverkusen travel to Sweden to take on BK Häcken on Thursday night.
Leverkusen won the reverse fixture 4-0 and will be hoping for a similar result in Sweden tonight.
In fact, Die Werkself have won all of their first four Europa League games so far, meaning a draw will be enough to secure top spot for Xabi Alonso’s side.
“We have a clear goal to secure first place and we’ll give it everything we’ve got,” said Xabi Alonso at his pre-match press conference.
As he has done so far this season, the Spaniard is likely to rotate his team heavily for the Europa League tie, with Jeremie Frimpong, Alejandro Grimaldo, Granit Xhaka and Jonas Hofmann among the stars, who could be rested.
Florian Wirtz definitely won’t play, as he stayed at home with a minor muscle injury.
