In an interview with Kicker, Florian Wirtz’s father and agent, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, has commented on the speculation surrounding his son’s future.

Florian Wirtz’s father and agent, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, has played down a recent report suggesting that the Bayer Leverkusen star is leaning towards a switch to Bayern Munich as his next career move.
“There are no thoughts in any direction. Florian says that the season has to be finished first. That is the focus at the moment,” Hans-Joachim Wirtz told Kicker.
From the agent’s point of view, there are strong arguments for the 20-year-old to stay at Bayer Leverkusen beyond the end of the season.
“My gut tells me: Florian is still young. He still has a part of his development ahead of him. Leverkusen is a good training ground for that,” Hans-Joachim Wirtz said of the upcoming season, although he added that nothing can be ruled out in football.
Leverkusen also believe that there is a good chance that Wirtz will stay beyond the summer. The club’s managing director for sport, Simon Rolfes, recently expressed his confidence that the youngster will remain at the club next season.
“If Simon Rolfes says that, then it goes in that direction. Bayer Leverkusen have a small advantage with the long contract,” said the agent.
