Bayer Leverkusen have tied managing director for sport Simon Rolfes down to a new long-term contract.
The former Germany international, who replaced Rudi Völler as the club’s managing director for sport in 2022, has signed a contract until 2028.
“Bayer 04 has always been a part of my life. I have learned a lot here and I am happy to be able to contribute to the further development of the club together with many professional and committed players,” said Rolfes, who spent 10 years of his playing career at the club.
“We have achieved a lot in recent years and have improved a lot, not only on the pitch. Bayer 04 also has a lot to offer as a demanding, modern and success-hungry club. I really enjoy working in such a professional environment. I am therefore delighted that we will be able to continue on this exciting path together.
Rolfes was appointed as Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director in December 2018, before taking over as managing director for sport around three and a half years later.
