VfB Stuttgart have announced that Hiroki Ito is facing a spell on the sidelines.
The Japan international will not be able to play for the Bundesliga club again until 2024 due to a muscle injury.
Ito picked up the injury in the closing stages of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
“Hiroki’s absence has dampened the joy of our victory in Frankfurt, because Hiroki is a very important player for us with his footballing qualities and his mentality,” said Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.
“Unfortunately, the injury means that we will be without him for a long time. We wish Hiroki a speedy recovery.”
