Italy and Milan legend Paolo Maldini is being lined up for a shock move to the Saudi Pro League.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who, on Friday, has provided an update on the future of the one-time defender.
Maldini is currently out of work, after being relieved of his duties in the boardroom at Milan back in June. The 55-year-old, though, is still held in high regard across world football, a reputation which looks set to land him a lucrative new role over the coming weeks.
As per Romano’s report, Maldini is the ‘main candidate’ to take over as the new sporting director at Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ittihad.
Negotiations between the two parties are understood to be ongoing, with the Italian expected to come to a definitive decision imminently.
Al Ittihad are also on the lookout for a new head coach, after parting ways with ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week.
