Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is optimistic about the club’s chances of keeping Jamal Musiala on a long-term basis, despite rumors that the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid are interested in the 20-year-old.

“He has a long contract until 2026. Of course we are going to reach for the ceiling,” Dreesen told DAZN on Wednesday.

“Jamal is a very important part of the team, he is one of the biggest talents in German football.

“Who would we be if we didn’t want to tie this player to us permanently? But there’s absolutely no reason to rush. We will discuss it with him calmly and I believe it will end well.”

Another player Dreesen wants to keep at the club is second-choice goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, whose current contract expires at the end of the season.

“We owe Sven a huge debt of gratitude. He did a fantastic job while ‘Manu’ [Neuer] was out. We are in talks with Sven about extending his contract,” Dreesen said.

“I am very optimistic that we will manage this together. He more than deserves it, he is a fantastic person. The way he has helped us is fantastic.”
