VfL Bochum have sealed the signing of Philipp Förster from Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart.

The 27-year-old midfielder joins Thomas Reis’ team on a two-year contract.

“He’s a good box-to-box player, tall and robust. In addition to these athletic components, he is technically very well trained and brings a lot of dynamism to the game. Philipp can be used variably in midfield, both at the eight position and at the double six. We are delighted that he has chosen VfL Bochum,” said Bochum director of sport Sebastian Schindzielorz.

“I’m looking forward to VfL and to Bochum,” added Philipp Förster.

“I’m especially excited about the Ruhrpott mentality. I’ve already heard a lot about that in the initial talks. The stadium, the fans, the great atmosphere – I already know all that from my guest games here with VfB and Sandhausen. I’m looking forward to the new challenge, to the new team. Our goal is to stay in the league, and I want to play my part in that.”

Förster found the net eight times and set up seven goals in 76 matches for Stuttgart.
