Werder Bremen have announced that 24-year-old centre-back Marco Friedl has signed a new contract with the club.
“Marco made yet another big step in his development last year, both on and off the pitch. He’s become a real leader among the ranks and we’re delighted to carry on the journey with him,” said Werder head of scouting and professional football Clemens Fritz.
Friedl, who joined Werder from Bayern in 2018, stated:
“Whilst being at Werder I’ve developed into a Bundesliga player and I’ve been able to make over 100 appearances for the first team. I’m excited to carry on my journey with Werder and will do everything I can to help us achieve our sporting goals next year and re-establish ourselves in the Bundesliga.”
Werder have kept the details of the contract extension undisclosed.
