Alexis Sanchez was on song and on target for Inter against Austrian side Salzburg in the Champions League and Simone Inzaghi had some praise for the Chilean.
Sanchez hadn’t scored for the Nerazzurri since his return to the club in the summer transfer window and the goal against Salzburg was his first of the season in all competitions. Salzburg did equalise through Oscar Gloukh, but Hakan Calhanoglu’s well-taken penalty earned Inter a vital European win.
After the game, Inzaghi spoke to the reporters in the post-game press conference and he had some praise for Sanchez and how the forward is getting some form back in his ongoing second spell at the club.
Inzaghi said: “He and Arnautovic wanted Inter, and we wanted them. They are important players, we know Sanchez very well and we know that he has these matches in his heart. He is improving day by day, I’m happy that he scored because he deserves it”
The pairing of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram has been on fire for Inter but with Marko Arnautovic nursing a long-term injury, Sanchez’s form is likely to prove vital for how Inter perform in the remainder of the campaign.
