Peter Bosz’s cold response to former club Lyon’s plight: “It’s a shame for them.”

Peter Bosz, currently manager of Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, gave a cold response when questioned about the plight of his former club, Olympique Lyonnais.

Bosz’s tenure at Lyon lasted just over one year. In his time at the Groupama Stadium, he took charge of 58 matches, finishing with a record of 27 wins, 16 draws and 15 defeats. Bosz was sacked in October 2022 following a run of five games without a victory. During that time, he picked up just one point.

The Dutchman has since bounced back and is taking charge of PSV Eindhoven. The Eredivisie side visit the Stade Bollaert on Tuesday as they face RC Lens in matchday three of the UEFA Champions League. Upon his return to France, Bosz was asked about the plight of former club Lyon. Les Gones are currently rock-bottom of Ligue 1 and are yet to win this season. Laurent Blanc was sacked in September and replaced by Fabio Grosso, but there is yet to be an uptick in performances and results.

Grosso admitted that Lyon are fighting for their survival in Ligue 1, but Bosz seemed unperturbed by OL’s plight. “I know that they’re last. It’s a shame for them and I don’t have any other specific feeling on that,” said Bosz in a press conference transcribed by RMC Sport. Clearly, no love lost there.
