Leon Goretzka faces a spell on the sidelines after injuring his hand in Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The German champions confirmed on Sunday that the midfielder has gone under the knife for a hand fracture and will miss the “upcoming matches” as a result.
According to Bild, Bayern expect Goretzka to be sidelined for around three weeks.
However, AZ reports that Goretzka is hopeful of returning in time for Bayern’s crunch game against Borussia Dortmund on November 4 – less than two weeks from now.
Goretzka posted a short message on Instagram on Sunday, saying:
“Thank you for your messages and good wishes. Confident I’ll be back soon.”
