France’s Ousmane Dembélé could be rested against the Netherlands

France could decide to rest Ousmane Dembélé (26) against the Netherlands in Friday’s UEFA European Championship qualifier.

Dembélé has already had his fair share of injuries at the age of just 26. He is now learning to adapt his training regimes and be more reactive to the slightest discomfort. The Paris Saint-Germain forward felt some such discomfort in his thigh following Sunday’s 3-1 victory against former club Stade Rennais. As a result, the winger has not participated in entire training sessions since Wednesday.

It is expected that Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman (27) will start in his place, and according to L’Équipe, it is looking increasingly likely that Dembélé will miss out on Friday’s fixture against the Netherlands entirely. Resting the PSG forward would allow him to return to peak fitness ahead of Tuesday’s game against Scotland. The scenario of the match against the Netherlands, as well as the physical feelings of Dembélé will dictate whether he is utilised at all.
