Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has given a positive update on Manuel Neuer, who is nearing a return from the injury that has sidelined him since December.
Freund told reporters that he doesn’t want to put Neuer “under any pressure,” but added that a return after the international break against either Mainz (October 21) or Galatasaray (October 24) is realistic.
“Things are looking really good. Manuel is going to use the time now and train. We’re very positive about him being on the pitch and getting into rhythm.
“Whether [his return] will be in the next game or the one after that, we’ll see. But we believe it will happen soon.”
Neuer, 38, last played in Germany’s final World Cup group stage match against Costa Rica on December 1.
