As reported via Florian Plettenberg, Danny Röhl is set to become the next Sheffield Wednesday manager.
Earlier in the week, Sheffield Wednesday parted company with head coach Xisco Muñoz after a run of poor form culminated in a 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Tuesday evening. Despite picking up a point on Saturday afternoon against Huddersfield Town, the Owls are still languishing at the bottom of the Championship table and remain without a win.
Nevertheless, it appears that their hunt for a new head coach could soon be over. It is understood that Danny Röhl is one of the top favourites to take the reigns at the newly promoted club.
The former Bayern Munich and Germany assistant is open to take over as the new manager, with talks and negotiations having already taken place. However, no final decision has yet been made.
If Röhl was to be appointed, he would instantly become the youngest head coach in the English football league. Taking over at Wednesday would be a monumental task for such an inexperienced head coach, but it would signal that great trust would be placed in him and that perhaps the Owls are planning for a long-term project.
