Scott Parker interested in Rangers’ job with Lampard and Clement also in contention

Scott Parker is reportedly keen to become the next manager of Rangers. 

The Gers are searching for a new boss after they dismissed Michael Beale earlier this week. 

Steve Davis is currently serving as interim manager, and he was in charge on Thursday when the Scottish giants lost 2-1 to Aris Limassol in the Europa League. 

Former Fulham boss Scott Parker is interested in filling the important vacancy at Rangers, per the Daily Mail. 

But he faces competition for the job as Frank Lampard is also said to be keen to replace Beale at Ibrox. The 45-year-old was most recently the caretaker boss at Chelsea from April to May. 

Meanwhile, HLN are claiming that Philippe Clement is also emphatically in the picture to take over the Gers as manager. It is said that he jetted into Glasgow for talks earlier this week but no agreement was reached. 

Parker has been out of work since leaving Belgian champions Club Brugge in March. 

The 42-year-old wasn’t successful in his previous managerial stint but he boasts experience managing clubs in the Premier League. 

The former West Ham United midfielder led Fulham to promotion from the Championship via the play-offs in 2020. But he couldn’t prevent his side from an immediate return to the second-tier the following year.  

Parker also achieved Premier League promotion as Bournemouth manager but he left the club in August last year after a disagreement with the board over transfer policy.
