According to L’Équipe, despite being a free agent, Eden Hazard (32) will soon once again return to a football pitch. This time for a good cause. The former Belgian international will play for the Variétés Club de France. The former Chelsea attacker has been a free agent since his contract expired with Real Madrid in June.
The former Lille talisman will return to the North of France to play in a charity match on the 18th October at the Stade de L’Épopée in Calais. In aid of charity, the match will take place in front of a potential 12,000 spectators. Hazard will take to the pitch with various stars of the French game including Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps, Laurent Blanc, and former Lille teammates Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye.
The 32-year-old received several offers from clubs across various continents in the summer, including Marseille and his former club Lille, but rejected all the proposals he received. Continuous rejections of a possible transfer led to reports that the former Madrid winger is poised to retire. However, with no official announcement, Hazard’s future in the professional game remains unknown.
