Xabi Alonso has done an impressive job since taking over as Bayer Leverkusen coach in October last year.
His good results have not gone unnoticed, and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in appointing him as their next coach.
Spanish journalist Matias Prats goes so far as to say that he’s absolutely certain that 41-year-old Xabi Alonso will return to the club he represented as a player as head coach next season.
“The favourite to replace [Carlo] Ancelotti is Xabi Alonso. I have no doubt that he will be their next coach,” Prats told Radio Marca.
“Real Madrid have chosen Xabi Alonso to coach the team next year,” he added.
Xabi Alonso spent five years at Real Madrid, making 236 appearances with 6 goals and 31 assists to his name.
