According to Kicker, Hamburg plan on sticking with head coach Tim Walter and sporting director Jonas Boldt despite missing out on promotion.
Thomas Wüstenfeld, one of HSV’s board members explained: “If I am asked by the supervisory board, I will say that we should start the new season in this constellation.”
He added: “We should formulate the goal to rise. With Schalke and Werder, two top-class players are gone. We know that the league is upgrading, that Hanover, for example, is stepping on the gas. We’re favourites and should send clear signals. We want to keep the team together and strengthen it going forward.”
It’s reported that Wüstenfeld, the supervisory board and the club’s president Marcell Jansen will meet in the coming days to analyse the season.
After three fourth place finishes, HSV finally finished third under Walter but narrowly missed out on promotion losing to Hertha Berlin 2-1 on aggregate.
