Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has turned down the chance to replace Laurent Blanc as manager of Olympique Lyonnais, according to The Athletic.
Lyon are currently bottom of Ligue 1 and are winless after their first four games of the season. Blanc has picked up just one point, and Les Gones lost 4-1 at home to Paris Saint-Germain, drawing an angered response from the ‘Bad Gones’ ultras group, and further increasing pressure on his job. L’Équipe reported in the wake of that defeat that Blanc was hanging by a thread.
It now looks that Lyon are making moves to replace the Frenchman. It was reported on Wednesday night by L’Équipe that Lyon had approached Potter, who has been out of work since his dismissal at Chelsea. The English manager had attracted attention from Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice this summer, however, Les Aiglons ultimately opted for Francesco Farioli.
Potter won’t be joining Lyon either, according to The Athletic. He was identified as the top target by John Textor, however, Potter decided it was not the right time to take over at the club.
