Didier Deschamps spoke ahead of France’s Euro 2024 qualifying clash against Ireland, and praised young striker Evan Ferguson (18) – despite the player being ruled out of the fixture due to injury. At a press conference attended by Get French Football News Deschamps praised the Brighton and Hove Albion player’s quality in front of goal.
“He’s a young player who has shown a lot of quality with his club. He won’t be there tomorrow and they’ll have to line up with a player with a different kind of profile.”
Deschamps went on to hail the Brighton striker’s goal-scoring efficiency, saying that “he is a dangerous player with a lot of efficiency in front of goal. He will get better over time, and all the better for the Ireland national team.”
Les Bleus face Stephen Kenny’s Ireland side at the Parc des Princes on Thursday evening, hoping to seal qualification to the Euro 2024, before facing Germany in Dortmund in a friendly.
