Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have today announced the signing of former U21 Croatia captain Bartol Franjić from Dinamo Zagreb for a reported €7.5m.
The defensive-midfielder has signed a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.
“Bartol is still young but he already has a lot of experience, both nationally and internationally and has consistently delivered a performance. He’s versatile in defence, defends well and has good structure to his game,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer.
Franjić added: “I’m very happy that the move to Wolfsburg worked out. It’s the right time for me to take on a new challenge and it’s always been my dream to play in the Bundesliga. The discussions with the Wolfsburg bosses convinced me. Now my focus is on getting to know my new colleagues and then working hard on developing myself.”
The 22-year-old is Wolfsburg’s fourth signing of after Kilian Fischer (FC Nürnberg, €2.5m), Patrick Wimmer (Arminia Bielefeld, €5m) and Jakub Kaminski (Lech Poznan, €10m).
