In this weekly feature, Manu Veth and Seb Stafford-Bloor, stepping in for Stefan Bienkowski, of the Gegenpressing podcast face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?
Manu’s Game of the Week: Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Bayern Munich
My match of the week is Gladbach vs Bayern Munich. This is after all the true Klassiker as Gladbach have often upset the applecart to beat Bayern. Historically too, these were Germany’s two biggest sides in the 1970s. Of course, Gladbach are not quite what they used to be and are currently undergoing a significant rebuild. With that in mind, I think Bayern will finally get a result against the Borussia and win this game.
Manu’s Predictions:
- Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Heidenheim
- Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 Darmstadt
- Hoffenheim 1-1 Wolfsburg
- Werder Bremen 1-1 Mainz
- Augsburg 1-1 Bochum
- Stuttgart 2-1 Freiburg
- Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-2 Bayern Munich
- Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2 Köln
- Union Berlin 2-3 RB Leipzig
Seb’s Game of the Week: Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig
Seb Stafford-Bloor is filling in for Stefan this week who is on his much-deserved honeymoon and has picked Union Berlin against Leipzig as his match of the week. This should be an exciting fixture between two of Germany’s biggest clubs. Union at home are a force to be reckon with and should have more than enough to take two points of a Leipzig side that smashed Stuttgart last weekend.
Seb’s Predictions:
- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Heidenheim
- Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 Darmstadt
- Hoffenheim 1-2 Wolfsburg
- Werder Bremen 1-1 Mainz
- Augsburg 1-0 Bochum
- Stuttgart 2-0 Freiburg
- Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-4 Bayern Munich
- Eintracht Frankfurt 0-1 Köln
- Union Berlin 2-2 RB Leipzig
Scores after MD2: Manu – 14, Stefan – 25
