Manchester City have reportedly launched a new bid to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Nunes.
This is according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano who reports that the Citizens have made a fresh offer worth around €60 million plus add-ons for the midfielder.
City’s previous bid of €50m plus €5m in add-ons was turned down by the Wanderers.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side are now said to be confident they will be able to wrap up a deal for the 25-year-old.
The Champions League winners are looking to bolster their midfield ranks, with Kevin de Bruyne expected to remain sidelined for the next four months.
Nunes is said to be one of their targets who has proven his abilities in England and Portugal.
The young midfielder joined the West Midlands outfit last summer after making over 100 appearances at Sporting Lisbon.
He hit the ground running at the Molineux Stadium, featuring in 41 games in all competitions.
The Portuguese footballer started 30 Premier League matches, averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.9 clearances and 1.3 dribbles per game.
He also completed 2.3 long balls and boasted around 82 percent passing accuracy (as per Whoscored).
Nunes mainly plays in central midfield but he can also be used as an attacking midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder.
However, it remains to be seen whether Wolves sanction his move to Manchester City as they have already lost several important players this summer.
Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez, Nathan Collins and Conor Coady have all departed the Molineux Stadium in the 2023 transfer window so far.
