FC Nantes have officially announced the signing of Valencia centre-back Eray Cömert (25) on loan with an option to make the move permanent for €3m.
The Switzerland international was deemed surplus to requirements with the Murcielagos and was subsequently left out of Rubén Baraja’s senior squad. Cömert has not played for Valencia CF since May 21st. Nantes were in serious need of a centre-back following the departure of reliable Brazilian defender Andrei Girotto to Saudi Arabian Al-Tawoon. Although he scored Les Canaris‘ second goal against Monaco on Friday’s frantic 3-3 draw against the league leaders, Cameroonian international centre-back Jean-Charles Castelletto may also leave after reportedly asking to leave the club.

Pierre Aristouy’s side have conceded seven goals since the start of the Ligue 1 campaign. The Switzerland international will wear the #24 jersey with Les Canaris. Cömert is the seventh signing of the summer for Nantes after the arrivals of Lamine Diack, Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel, Marquinhos, Douglas Augusto, Adson and Matthis Abline.
