RMC Sport journalist Maxime Tilliette is reporting that Saudi Arabian side Al-Khaleej are interested in signing AS Monaco forward Gelson Martins (28).
The Saudi side have approached the Principality club regarding a transfer. The out-of-favour Portuguese winger, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is yet to feature for Les Monégasques this season. However, Monaco are still demanding €5m for the former Atletico Madrid winger.
However, Martins isn’t Al-Khaleej’s priority signing. RMC Sport understand that the Saudi club are prioritising a move for PAOK’s Khaled Narey.
Regardless, Monaco will be looking to sell Martins before the end of the transfer window. By the end of last season, he was often training away from the first team, and the arrival of Adi Hütter hasn’t seen a change in fortune. Martins was absent from first-team training on Wednesday, and wasn’t included in Les Monégasques’ squad to face FC Nantes, but nor was he marked as injured in the club’s squad announcement.
