The professional footballing future of German international Nadiem Amiri still appears to lie outside of Westphalia. It nevertheless remains to be seen whether or not the 26-year-old will play in Ligue 1 or the EFL Championship. The Ludwigshafen-native reportedly agreed to personal terms with Olympique Marseille last week, but Stephan van Nocks of Germany’s Kicker Magazine reports that Amiri’s German club Bayer 04 Leverkusen have received a better offer from EFL Championship side Leeds United.
Amiri must still decide for himself whether or not he wishes to head to Yorkshire. Van Nocks reports that Leeds have tendered an offer more in line with Leverkusen’s transfer fee expectations of €9 million. Bayer themselves are looking to sign a player from Championship side Southampton. Die Werkself wish to sign English winger Nathan Tella. The Saints are asking €20 million for the 24-year-old. Van Nocks and others report that Simon Rolfes and the B04 front office have initially offered €18 million for Tella’s services.
